Martial Talent

Martial Talent was the grade of a martial artist, be it Grade One Martial Talent or Grade Two, it is simply the measure of the speed and ease with which their body could absorb primal energies. The faster they could absorb primal energies, the higher their martial talent would be.

Overview

Cultivation was one of the most important factors of strength.

For a peak first stage Life Destruction martial artist going against a seventh stage Life Destruction martial artist, it wasn’t just one's comprehensive battle prowess would be suppressed through the absolute disparity in their boundaries.

In the end, one’s cultivation was the most essential factor in one’s combat strength. This was because it directly correlated to how much true essence a martial artist held within them.

Occasionally, some people would be born with Innate Divine Strength. With great strength comes great speed. Naturally, they would have an advantage in battles. as martial cultivation progresses, the primal energies become more important and the effect that one’s innate strength has becomes correspondingly smaller.

Jumping Ranks

The essence of talent in the martial world are separated in three main ways - Perception, Cultivation Speed, and Combat Prowess. Without all three, then you can only be considered a mediocre of talent one path with limited growth. Take Ling Sen for example, a fighting genius that could jump ranks and is invincible in his own boundary but was sorely lacking in his cultivation speed.

For true martial prodigies, then a martial artist is able to jump ranks in order to fight, they are considered a combat genius. If they are able to maintain their ability to fight higher ranking masters, then they are considered as monstrous talents. This is especially true in higher realms:

Logically speaking, in the path of martial arts, the disparity in gaps of cultivation increased the further one went. The difference between late Pulse Condensation and Houtian realm was lesser compared with the early Houtian realm and late Houtian realm. Continuing this logic, the late Houtian realm and Xiantian realm was much less than the difference between an early Revolving Core and late Revolving Core master.

Thus, one can see how increasingly difficult it is to be a martial genius of the world.

Martial Potential

A martial artist’s talent was similar to their potential, but there were some slight differences.

Talent was a martial artist’s true comprehensive combat strength in comparison to their age. At the same age, those that were stronger had the greater talent. At the same strength, those that were younger had the greater talent.

• For example: an extreme genius of the lower realms like Duanmu Qun could jump ranks to fight, but that was only compared to other more ordinary geniuses. If he compared himself to someone with his own level of talent, then half a small boundary of difference in cultivation was a nearly insurmountable gap.
• For a peerless genius, their combat strength amongst others of their realm was far, far more important than their cultivation speed!
• Potential is cultivation realm limited (divided) by age, someone at Revolving Core at 30 years can be considered as a Saint or Emperor Grade but someone at Revolving Core at 60 years won't be even a Saint Grade Talent, but there are many people who reach Revolving core even after 60 years of life.

If one’s cultivation was low but they could jump ranks to fight, this indicated that they had tremendous potential.

But if one’s cultivation was high and their strength was only on par with those of their realm, that was a sign they would only be able to cultivate for another realm or two before exhausting all their potential.

After all, in a true battle, what decided victory or defeat was actual combat strength. Comprehension of Laws was only an indicator of one’s future potential and accomplishments. If one had great attainments in Laws, it was still useless if they couldn’t defeat someone else.

But potential measures the future growth of a martial artist. A high talent didn’t necessarily mean a great potential. There were many eighth stage Life Destruction Divine Sea powerhouses that for all sorts of various reasons could surpass a ninth stage Life Destruction Divine Sea powerhouse in strength. But in terms of potential, they would be surpassed at some point.

In order for an ordinary genius to rise to the ranks of peerless genius, a martial artist should not only have immense talent in cultivation and perception but must also have experienced the arduous path of martial arts. For one to truly step on the path of becoming a peerless emperor, a martial artist must have experienced the winds and rain, the winding corridors of fate and most of all slaughter, to stand above thousands of stepping stones and rivers of blood.

It is because a genius of martial arts is like a treasure spear. The materials and array formation used to forge it were all top class of top class ingredients, but it simply hadn’t been sharpened yet.

Of course, only by practicing beyond one's limits may a martial artist truly bloom into glory. This process happens when one exerts themselves to the point of exhaustion, resulting in the increase of true essence and foundation!

This is because a martial artist’s body was similar to a lake, and true essence was the water within. Every time a martial artist exhausted their true essence and pushed it past the limits, that was the same as digging in the lake and making it even deeper. This process made one’s foundation more solid.

With a deep foundation the potential would be immense. But if it wasn’t sharp enough then a genius wouldn’t be able to display its true strength. First he had to sharpen and whet himself in the martial road, creating a keen edge. This would allow a martial artist to quickly bloom in terrifying glory.

Raising a peak genius

The path of martial arts was filled with risks. Countless geniuses fell midway in their path, their bones littering the earth.

• The birth of every Revolving Core powerhouse was atop the piles of bones from numerous middle class geniuses.
• The birth of every Life Destruction powerhouse was also from atop a pile of top class geniuses.
• As for a Peerless Emperor, they were born from the endless corpses of Saint level talents!

A genius was never created in a single stroke. The only exceptions were those like Xiao Moxian, who were naturally destined to be monstrous geniuses by birth. As for the lower realms, most geniuses slowly accumulated their strength over time.

The process of a genius’s growth wasn’t something accomplished with only seclusion. There were only extremely old martial artists that were stuck at a boundary for tens of thousands of years and would then go into deep closed-door seclusion, either making a breakthrough or dying in the process.

Of course, these people would have no progress in the future.

The birth of a true genius not only depended on their naturally born will, perception, martial talent, or even the struggle of their destiny. There was also the struggle of resources, background, and inheritances. Otherwise, no matter how talented a genius was, they would still be wasted if they weren’t cultivated. 

In the end, a true genius would need the resources of a great influence to truly bloom. But, to what extent a peerless genius would reach, that is an enigma of fate...

Destiny

Although there were a great amount of heroic elites across the land, one could say it would be extremely hard for a single one of them to reach the level of an Empyrean.

This was because there were far too many factors involved in the growth of a talent. Even if a martial artist seemed extraordinary now, there might be some problems on their future road of martial arts. For instance, maybe they would exhaust all of her potential or all of their destiny. They might even go adventuring in a mystic realm and perish there!

Even if a genius died, they might be lost within the rising talents in the future. A genius needed destiny and lucky chances to continue walking down the road of martial arts.

For this type of person to grow to such a degree, their life must inevitably be extremely tough. Those that plotted against them might find their plans bouncing back on them instead. A calamity that would annihilate a normal genius would be turned into an opportunity by this youth.

But these types of people are incredibly rare, it was like having 9 chances of dying while having only one chance of surviving. If that was so, many people would think hard about weighing the gains and the losses. But the martial world was filled with perils, and if one did not go far as to fight for their destiny then they were not true martial artists. Only those who survive perils and mind-boggling dangers could truly become a peak talent.

Thus, there would be far too few martial artists that could truly bloom and become a peerless powerhouse. Compared to the countless martial artists across the 33 Heavens, only mere hundreds could truly become peak experts and lords of their domain.

Lucky Chances

To an extreme talent, if a lucky chance was placed in front of them, they had to go all out to obtain it even if the chances of survival were slimmer than a hair.

But, sometimes, just sometimes, in a situation where one couldn’t grasp the circumstances and variables involved, one would need to give up. And giving up also took enormous determination.

Mortal World Martial Talent(Lower Realms)

"Of the several factors that formed a genius, martial talent was at the end. But, this didn’t mean that it was unimportant. On the contrary, martial talent was actually indispensable. It was just that in the Divine Realm there were many different methods to increase one’s martial talent, thus it wasn’t considered too important." c1038

Martial Talent at base (body transformation stages) is something like Essence gathering and assimilation rate divided by time.

• Willpower (Battle Spirit)

Talent is battlepower divided by age. Ability to overcome others of the same age and realm.

No talent

• Ordinary individuals that are unable to cultivate
• A 30 year old martial artist was in the prime of their youth.
• A 40 year old martial artist already began to age, bones rusting, and the weathering of time begins.

Common Grade (1/2/3)

"It had to be known that a normal medium third-grade martial artist, if they started cultivating at the age of 12, and were not supported by any special top-quality pills, then they would be able to reach the early Bone Forging stage by the time they were 40 years old. This period was at least 30 years!" c136

• 1st Grade. Flesh Training before 30 years means 1st Grade Talent

• 2nd Grade. Viscera Training before 30 years means 2nd Grade Talent

Heaven Grade (6)

With a sixth-grade talent, one would be a once-in-a-generation talent within Sky Fortune Kingdom. Within the Seven Profound Valleys, a sixth-grade talent was at the upper echelons. But placed within Divine Phoenix Island, a sixth-grade talent was only so-so.

"A sixth grade talent, this was not a joke. Many people did not know Qin Xingxuan’s cultivation, but Wang Yanfeng knew. She was at the peak of the Fourth Stage of Body Cultivation. She was similar to Ling Sen(4th, low) in cultivation, but she was younger than him by five years(20 vs 15)!"

  • All talents before this limited only by energy resources and True Essence cultivation methods, Saint Grade Talent requires Perception for Laws and developed Soul for Essence control to progress in Life Destruction (Spiritual Body).
  • The younger a martial artist was, the easier it was for them to make breakthroughs. Once they were old, the progress they could make would be limited. If they wasted their time and their potential was exhausted, then they would at most become a top tier talent like Nanyun Wang. But, they would never become an Emperor level powerhouse.
• In terms of talent, it was easier to raise the more mundane one was. For an ordinary talent to become a Saint level talent, all they would need was a single great lucky chance. For instance, two drops of Ancient Phoenix blood.
• As for a Saint level talent rising to an Emperor level talent, that would require the accumulation of several lucky chances. In addition, a martial artist would also need to have extraordinary natural talent to begin with.

Emperor Grade (8)

The definition of an Emperor level talent only meant that one had a small ray of hope for becoming a true Emperor level powerhouse. In fact, one could call themselves an Emperor level talent, but of these so-called Emperor level talents, the vast majority were not able to become a Peerless Emperor.

Maybe they exhausted their potential, maybe they weren’t able to persist, or perhaps their destiny was lacking and they perished, but even between Emperor level talents there were massive gaps, otherwise Emperor powerhouses would not be so exceedingly rare. Chp 580

• Evidence: There were many accounts in the novel about Hallowed Lords, such as the Hallowed Lord in the Holy Demon Continent that died under a dragon claw, one in Sky Spill Continent, and also martial artists that have been rumored to have ascended the martial void, but never mentioned that there was talent was higher than Emperor Grade(8), normally anyone with Divine Sea Cultivation Realm must ascend to Divine Realm due to resources scarcity of Sky Spill Continent's planet
• And above an Emperor level talent, if one wanted to rise to the ranks of Huo Wenlong and Huo Yu, that was even more difficult. At that time, something that might be a great lucky chance to a Saint level talent might only be standard treasure for someone like Huo Wenlong.

Cultivating Genius

In the Martial World universe, elites are determined mainly by their background and aptitude for cultivation. But true geniuses are those with impressive determination, extraordinary potential, and the indomitable will to overcome hardships, just like a moth walking towards the flame.

In their youth, many heroes destined to become powerhouses have had the so-called 'Life of an Emperor'. Meaning that everything that they did was flawless, miraculous and that their destiny would be so great that no matter what happens they would never die. Rather it would be their enemies that would die a tragic death, creating their legend. This would occur until they had exhausted their potential and ultimately die.

• "Of these nine Concepts, each one was more difficult than the last. If one could pass the sixth or the seventh Concept, then they could become a Holy Lord within the Realm of the Gods.   • In truth, for a genius of Crimson Strifecloud’s level, it was extremely easy for him to break through the earlier realms. If he wanted to he could have stepped into the Divine Sea at 26-27 years of age. But, there was no reason to do that. ch1037

Hence, only with promising achievements in cultivation will one be scouted by great influences and gain access to such resources. Since one cannot grow spontaneously without resources as a martial artist, even if one were very gifted in cultivation.
• To step onto the throne of a World King, one had to encounter many lucky chances.
